Warren Turns Attack Dog
Massachusett's Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren brought red meat to the table tonight. Warren, who has been mentioned as a possible future presidential candidate, at times tonight seemed to take on the traditional vice presidential nominee's position of attack dog.
While Warren brought the crowd to its feet time and time again. It was hard to get through all the assaults and slashing at Republicans to get much more than that out of what she had to say. Of course last week, the same could be said of some of the GOP speakers.
While Warren looking dimminutive and professorial, her speech was anything but. She was a firebrand or reminiscent at times of a hell, fire and brimstone preacher at a summer tent meeting.
The delegates ate it up.
After a rather reserved response to Sandra Fluke, the conventioneers roared back to life as time and time again Warren took her trusty hatchet to chopping down what she and the delegates believed were the forest of lies and distortions being planted by the opposition party.
I understand that this is a time for the faithful to gather and sing their praises while denouncing the heresies and sins of the other church. Yet for me, Warren struck no notes that would inspire me to look more closely at what President Barack Obama or the Democratic Party was offering to the American people.
For all the blood flying, I had to keep wiping my eyes to keep from stumbling over the carnage.
From the Cornfield, while Warren did refer back to the late Senator Ted Kennedy as she came to a close, by that time, I was ready to turn off the television and tune out..but glutton for punish me...I didn't...had to stay put for the man himself, former President Bill Clinton.
