This iReport is part of an assignment:
My favorite Chinatown |
Good Luck Charms - Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a unique Chinese city because of its British colonial past. Cantonese is the most common dialect spoken in Hong Kong, although Mandarin is quickly gaining in popularity due to the ever increasing numbers of tourists from China. Yet English is still widely spoken by Hong Kong's Chinese citizens as well as the many ethnic groups which make Hong Kong a multi-ethnic society.
Therefore Hong Kong is a Chinese city yet with a fabric to its society and culture reflecting it's British colonial past, thus making Hong Kong unlike any other city in the world.
