“Don’t Believe In Me”
Yep….I have had my share of people who just don’t believe in me or anything I do. So many of them don’t think I can pee straight and avoid getting it in the toilet vs on it. Well, that lack of belief in me has fueled me to get many things right in my life. Not just right…..but with speed…accuracy…..focus……no understanding of failure even when the air is out of the balloon. In fact, I beg you all to not believe in anything I embark on. You will only feed my soul and give me food to get fat real fast.
I once was dating a girl and her folks felt I was not going to amount to anything. In so many ways they let me know without saying it. At a certain point I kind of thought they were right, but then I became angry. All of the sudden after a few years of this I was enraged to prove them wrong. “You need to go to business school……you need to go to law school”. Here is the best part – my father once (who was a stellar attorney) said to me once early in life “Do anything but be an attorney”. His point was not that the practice of law was bad, but go do what you love and get “great” at it. I listened to dad and could care less what my girlfriend’s parents thought. Ultimately I moved forward and away from that oddity in my life. However, I have to add my eagerness to succeed in a field other than medicine or law was elevated. Coupled with the fact no law school or medical school would let me in their bathroom let alone be admitted into their program.
I went onto business school and it all made sense from the very start. The puzzle of business fit easily in my two cell brain and complicated situations were easy to resolve. That is…..they were for me and maybe not for everyone else. I love the latitude of marketing and not being confined to rules and regulations. I am an abstract dude and love to sing in the shower while wearing a shower cap. Hey…don’t knock the shower cap until you wear one. Super cool!! Once again I had plenty of folks in business school who thought I was out of my mind with stupid ideas. Each of them fueled my soul.
Today I am very much an entrepreneur on my way to a few interesting projects filled with uncertainty. I strongly believe they will ultimately become very high profile. Forget about monetary reward for a second here.....they will change the digital game very fast. Just watch and keep reading in the upcoming months. I enjoy living a crazy life and we spell it in caps LIFE (Hap Klopp quote). Moral of this story is do what you want with measures in place…..go forward and kill every snail in the way….be the porsche. Thank you mom and dad for letting me do my thing.
