President Obama's Speech
OK, I am not a Liberal or a Democrat (thought I'd get that out of the way right off the bat). I will admit that President Obama gave a great speech that fed right to the Liberal Democratic base. Full of hope and promise and dreams of the future and what may or could be...and the base lapped it up.
Do I agree with some of what he said? Sure, specially when he said it's going to take hard work from us all and that the government can't and shouldn't be the "be all and end all". Do I believe half of what he said and promised? No. Why? Because of what he has shown in the past four years.
Again...what I saw was more promises and more "I couldn't get this done in the four years you gave me, but give me four more and I'll certainly try and keep some of my promises."
Now, one last thing...sorry, but as a retired military member, I didn't believe him at all in his "love and respect" for those serving this great country. I felt it was lip service and written by a good speech writer and delivered by a consummate orator. Perhaps, just perhaps, I would feel differently if he had given hand written notes to the families of the fallen SEALs instead of the form auto-pen letter while taking the time to pen a personal hand written note of condolence to the family members of a rapper.
So...bottom line for me, yes, I thought he delivered a very good speech that played to his base 100%...but no, I don't think he will change the minds of anyone but a few outside his base.
