    Brazilian Sea Goddess

       Spanish artist Juame Plensa, created this giant sculpture of marble and resin as a tribute to Yemanja, an Orisha or "deity" of the sea, in the Yoruba religion of Africa and the Candomble and Umbanda religions in Brazil. With Sugarloaf Mountain as it's backdrop, the sculpture rises out of the sea at Rio de Janeiro's Botafogo beach. The work will be on display  until September 28, 2012 as part of the OiR - Other Ideas for Rio project
