    Economy: Are you better off?

    Taken to the cleaners

I had a really good job in Sept. 2008. I voted for President Obama. I was notified by the owners of the small design firm I managed that it was going to close 3 days before Thanksgiving and I had to have my desk cleaned out by Friday. No two weeks notice, no severance pay after 4 years of service and moving my family 125 miles. Also best year of design fees in the past 6 years. At 64 I was out of a job, no prospects for a new job. All because of investment banks that screwed us all! I faced unemployment, no health insurance and possible forclosure of our home. If President Obama had not put forth the Stimulus package I would have lost our home. The Stimulus bill allowed for a subsidy to help pay for health insurance and I was able to pick up independent work under a Community Development grant. Yes I am better off after President Obama's election. I & my wife will vote for President Obama again.
