    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     TheNYBureau photographed a lightning strike in Sydney, Australia, on November 1, 2008. He said when he captured this image there was extremely stormy weather with many power outages and lightning strikes. 'Photographing lightning is one of the hardest tasks I have attempted. My thoughts when I took this image were: "these bolts are so massive, powerful and bright that I need to get inside after I try one more time to capture this,"' he said.

    Storms in Sydney Australia are powerful and common. This lightning bolt struck at the International Airport as yet another storm rolled passed my home. Grant
