MLB Instant Replay? You Betcha' -Jerry Meals Blows Another Call- Yanks Lose to Orioles
"Baltimore 5, Yankees 4 -With one out and one-run lead in the ninth inning, Baltimore's vaunted bullpen looked perfectly ready to blow the save against the Yankees.
Mark Teixeira hit a groundball to short, which J.J. Hardy fielded and threw to second to put out Nick Swisher only to have the relay to first base arrive too late, thus allowing the tying run to score from third... or at least that is how it looked to everyone but umpire Jerry Meals."
How can you be so bad at your job and still keep it?
When will umps be held accountable for their actions? I’m not talking as severe as the steroid penalties, but suspend a guy for a couple weeks after a blatant “get me the hell off this field and out to my dinner reservation” call and things will change.
Tex’s response on YES after the game was great:
“Sometimes you wonder if the umpires are trying to get out of there,” says Tex, who expects to be fined.
"He may wanna set up a direct deposit transfer with Bud Selig right now, cause that one’s gonna cost him, but so what.
He’s mad and for good reason. The guy just exploded a calf muscle for the tie, and Jerry Meals wants to beat traffic.
Just a ludicrous and irresponsible call.
You think this hatred and this 8th place rank on current Twitter trends for Jerry Meals is bad?
Wait to see what happens if the Yankees lose the division by half a game to the Orioles."
Jerry Meals has made so many bad calls as a MLB Umpire, he's earned himself a page in the Urban Dictionary.
A total screw up is called a 'Jerry Meals"
So has Bud Selig, MLB commisioner, for his position on instant replay not being implemented:
Time for Instant Replay
