Anger From Web Directory Denial
As a web directory editor, I sometimes cringe at the comments I get when I refuse to list a website. Since reviews are paid for in advance, I can understand how some submitters may get frustrated. But unless I actually edit a listing, which all that are approved are fully edited, then the submitter normally gets a full refund. Normally the refund is enough to calm the anger that some have towards web directory editors, but not all the time.
At times I feel that I am not just a web directory editor, but a human punching bag! In this image you will see one of the comments I received from an angry person. Editors do take their share of abuse, but it is necessary to maintain some level of quality. Unfortunately very few appreciate the work we do, which is illustrated in this E-mail.
Please note that the E-mail received from this upset webmaster has all the personally identifiable information blacked out and his profanity as well.
How would you feel, if you were a woman, and received such a hostile E-mail? I almost feel like a web directory editor gets about as much abuse as a bill collector!
I enjoy editing quality submissions received at http://www.vmoptions.com. I'm also an editor for some smaller web directories too. So if you happen to ever submit your business or personal site to a directory, please keep in mind that the editor behind the scenes may actually be a compassionate and caring mother who is just trying to do her job to the best of her ability!
