Second Convocation of the University of Wah
Second Convocation of the University of Wah was held on 10th September.The Governor of the Punjab and Chancellor of the University, Sardar Muhammad Latif Khosa, was the chief guest of the ceremony. Total 754 graduates of 15 undergraduate and 11 postgraduate programs were conferred the degrees and 27 students were awarded gold medals,
While speaking on the occasion, the Governor of the Punjab lauded the progress of the University made in a short span of time despite limited financial resources. The Governor congratulated the graduates on achieving an important milestone in their academic pursuit. He urged the students to play their role in the development of society as they now enter their professional career. He also appreciated the efforts of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maqbool Ahmad made for the development of the University in terms of degree programs, enrolments, faculty and infrastructure. The Governor emphasized that education in the Universities must commensurate to the real need of the society and the job market and it can be achieved through the linkage between the Universities and industry. In this regard, he also mentioned several steps taken by the Government for promoting the education sector in the country. Further, he advised the parents and the teachers to play their due role in grooming and imparting quality education in the students.
The University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maqbool Ahmad presented the University progress report. He said that just after three years of its Charter by the Government of Punjab, the University has 05 faculties and 19 teaching departments that offer postgraduate and undergraduate degree programs. The Chancellor of the University decorated the Gold Medal winners Sadia Bibi, Fozia Haider Hashmi, Muhammad Jamil, Touqeer Ahmed, Asim Bhatti, Irrum Nawaz Ahmed, Waqqas Qayyum, Zaib Un Nisa, Arub Usmani, Saima Tofique, Paras Ali, Shomaila Naz, Rabiya Khan, Saeeda Begum, Sobia Bibi, Sahrish Batool Naqvi, Sana Anjum, Arshia Ashiq (Who also got Gold Medal of Bank Alfalah limited), Maria Chaudhry, Ambreen Abdul Sattar, Sehrish Kamal, Aisha Bhatti, Samra Shoukat, Sadia Batool, Ashar Wahid, Abusufyan and Haseeb Azhar, who got first position in their respective degrees.
