I chose a career in teaching in an effort to give back to the large number of amazing teachers who taught me. My former teachers gave me the gift of education no matter how difficult I made it, how little they were paid, and regardless of how their work was under appreciated. I would not have made it one day out of high school without the knowledge they gave me, the confidence they instilled in me, and the unconditional love I was given every day. The only way I knew how to thank my former teachers for those gifts was to become that same person in the lives of the generations that come after me. By teaching, I am pledging to my former teachers to give my students the education, confidence, and unconditional love they need to move on from high school and in to the world regardless of how difficult they try to make it for me and my colleagues, how little I am paid, and how under appreciated my work seems at the time because I am living proof that one day at least one of my students will come to this same realization and make a difference to the generations that come after them by becoming a
