My Thoughts about the Recent Attack on the US Consulate in Libya
The recent attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya showed to the world the reality that the current government in such a country is still not strong or stable enough in dealing with criminality, terrorism, and mob violence. The international community must help the current government of Libya in strengthening its military and police forces, so that such government can effectively curtail criminality, terrorism and other forms of violence. Loose firearms should be confiscated and warlordism should be banned. Libyans should have efficient and capable law-enforcement agencies that will uphold the law.
The national government in Libya should show to the world that it can protect and secure the human rights and civil liberties of its citizens as well as those of foreigners who are right now residing or working in the said country. The current government in Libya should uphold the international law and, also, should prove to the world that it can maintain the rule of law in the said country. Such government must strive hard to arrest the criminals who were responsible in the attack against the US Consulate in Benghazi. Such criminals should be brought to justice, so they can pay for the heinous crimes that they had committed against innocent people. The rule of law should prevail in Libya.
The US must really help the current government of Libya in reforming its military and police forces, so that atrocious crimes and would-be terrorist acts can be curtailed in the said country. The governments of the United States and Libya should cooperate in intelligence-gathering work and surveillance efforts that will prevent the Al Qaeda and other international terrorist groups from conducting violent acts within Libya. I do hope and pray that the criminals who were responsible in the violent siege against the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya will be brought to justice soon.
