    RIO FLOAT OFFERS TOUCH of BRAZIL

    The largest Brazilian Festival on the west coast took place in Pacific Beach on Garnet Ave. this past weekend. The family-friendly event celebrated the Fifth Annual Brazilian Day San Diego on Sunday, September 9th from 11 am – 7 pm. This year’s event featured spectacular dance and musical performances from local artists, a parade with floats, lots of delicious Brazilian food and drink, plus more.

    I happened to be driving behind the Sports Arena today when I came upon this leftover Brazilian Day float reminder of Rio's Christ the Redeemer statue. Even stranded in a dusty parking lot, there is a grace and majesty evident in this noble knock-off.
