Hurricane season 2012 |
Hurricane Isaac: After the Storm, Part II
- Jareen, CNN iReport producer
The marsh water flood line was/is evident by the marsh grass along the Mississippi River levee. Boats, caskets, tombs, houses, playground equipment, trash cans, chairs, and dead horses are some of what I noticed driving along. Some areas had more than others. The smell was pungent and foul with a combination of stagnating water, chemicals and decaying animals.
Interesting that the following day as I exited the ferry and headed the 6.5 miles south down the road for day 2 of the clean up, I didn't notice the smell. The Savastano's youngest daughter (also a great friend) did.
