    Anti-Japan Protests in Southern China

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     bshepp is currently studying abroad in China. He photographed anti-Japanese protesting in Kunming, China. He says the protests were in response to the recent purchase of the Daiyu Island by the Japanese government. He says the protesting at times turned violent as protesters vandalized Japanese affiliated businesses and buildings. 'I maintained a good distance as many protesters were giving me menacing looks. The protesters would have been very opposed to Westerners joining, especially Americans, as the U.S. is seen as ignorant of the Chinese's historical right to the island and are supportive of Japan,' he said.
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

Anti-Japan demonstrations have erupted in Kunming the Provincial Capital of Yunan. Demonstrators have been targeting Japanese restaurants, veichles and some by standers.
