Election 2012: Your stories |
Stockholm Syndrome?
In this election of Obama VS Romney we have an interesting stance. There are voters whom believe in the Birther claims. We also have Racists, Christian believers who think Obama is Muslim, People who think nationwide healthcare is a penalty on all because your give care to the poor.
Well to make a point on a little of these stances we take a look. Birthers have been proven wrong. Racists, well nothing I can say to you this has been a old problem. For the religious I point to our constitution as it specifically points that religion and government are to be separate.
Finally the healthcare folks. Look if we do not nationalize healthcare everyone is still entitled to it via a Hospital visit. The problem here is the poor who cannot afford health coverage, or have jobs that do not provide any option to get health coverage; also are they people who get charity care or do not pay the bill. This in and of itself makes your cost higher. It makes insurance cost higher. DO you know why? You are paying their bills! So your debate is problematic from the start. The only real option you have is to make healthcare an option you must pay in advance for. If your poor and get sick you die!. That is about it.
Now if your of any religion you know that final option is not a "religious" thing by any means. Not to mention it would make the USA one of the worst countries in the world for how it supports its citizens. In the event we nationalize healthcare, the cost per person will go down. If we do as the Obama passed laws state, Make insurance carriers use 80% of their income for health care ONLY then there is no reason for a raise in cost. Especially when you consider in the first year of this people have received refunds from their insurance carriers because they did not meet this threshold.
Now all this behind we have one really odd situation in this election. This is where the Republicans have lost me entirely. Where even if they were going to give 1million dollars to every citizen I would not vote for them. I am talking about the woman's reproductive rights and abortion battles. The republicans have flat out made it part of their campaign that abortions should be illegal even when they would prevent a death or in the cases of rape and incest. You will hear statements from the candidates where it might be ok. However in the official documents this is not the case. Ryan even supported the bills where there is no choice if you get pregnant.
This has been making its stride, but I notice an odd situation. In some recent moments Romney and Ryan have had groups of female supporters on the front line. This is an attempt to sway the vote. But it got me to thinking. Why would someone who is literally having their rights taken if a man gets elected, supporting and voting for that man. I think this has been said but it fits even more now that when I saw a hit of it 3 months ago.
Women supporting the Republican Romney/Ryan are suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.
Now let's look at a brief description here.
Stockholm syndrome, or capture-bonding, is a psychological phenomenon in which hostages express empathy and have positive feelings towards their captors, sometimes to the point of defending them. These feelings are generally considered irrational in light of the danger or risk endured by the victims, who essentially mistake a lack of abuse from their captors for an act of kindness.
The republicans have spent plenty of money on state levels left and right trying to close abortion clinics. Pass laws making it so your doctor can lie to you. Forcing you to get un-necessary ultrasounds pre-abortion so you can see the "baby". They stand by life at conception trying to ban birth control, the IUD. Repeal Roe V Wade.
That's just the healthcare part. Up next, Fair pay for women is something they are against because women are not as hard of workers as men. Not to mention lets work in that they would be hard against paid pregnancy leave and guarantee of job upon release to return.
When you pile up all the anti woman aspects the republicans are on a hard and fast track of making women go back to stay at home baby factories.
This is where Stockholm Syndrome comes into play. Presidents, Governors, Senators, Representatives of the House, are all the Dominant factor in life. They define laws and regulations. The citizen is essentially loosely a hostage, (why loosely? because we can vote them out of office). So in this effect these women are sympathizing with their captor by simply allowing them to dictate how and what they can do in their lives despite the fact these actions would not directly affect the captor.
So I do ask why are these women supporters? What is it that brings them to this side of the track in such great numbers (ok not that great but big enough to raise concern).
But back to the voting choice. It is in the end your choice. The hopes are that you have some thought in your choice. To third party voters, Get your heads out of the dark and realize your vote means nothing. You choice will not get elected. For everyone else, let's stop the "I 'me a ***" method of choosing who you are voting for. Look at their stances and give a plus / minus system and pick the best of both evils. You will make a decision that is better informed and frankly a better choice for all.
For me Obama by a thousand, and simply because of the Woman's issues and Health Care.... I also am a man!
