    Benue Valley Flooded.

The cameroun Government has opened the water gates of the dam, Lagbo, due to rising water levels. It was gathered that the second of the two gate dam was opened friday, 14th september 2012. The. Resulting flood from Lagbo dam has flooded the Benue valley along the banks of the River Benue leading to The loss of property. Over 23000 people have been rendered homeless by the flood.
The people are particularly bitter because this disaster could've been averted if the Nation's Government had dredged the river as was proposed a long time ago. The refugees have camped themselves in public schools as no proper provision has been made for them. The water level is still rising and the full extent of the damage cannot yet be estimated.
