    IMAGES FROM SHENZHEN PROTEST - SEPT 16, 2012

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     iReporter admanyc in Shenzhen, China, found himself caught up in an angry protest against Japan over a string of small, remote islands in the East China Sea which the two countries both claim sovereignty over. "The atmosphere was tense, the people were angry and they were taking it out on the government which they feel is not doing enough about the situation," he said. "To the citizens, the islands have been annexed by the Japanese and they want the government to take them back." Our iReporter left the scene once police started to fire tear gas and charge the crowd. "I had never experienced anything like this. It was tense. It was frightening. It was amazing to be in it and to watch," he said.

    These are some additional images I took from the protest outside the Municipal Government Offices of the CPC in Shenzhen China on September 16, 2012.

    What seemed like mass confusion was carefully organized. The military and police were swift in their action and moved to push the crowds back from the gates of the office complex.

    The citizens would move back a few hundred meters only to return with more force and effort as the police moved back.

    No side wanted to budge.
