Occupy Wall Street
Occupy Wall Street Single Handedly Saved The Obama Administration By Redirecting The Discourse From Austerity To Middle Class
Irrespective of what you read or hear in the mainstream media, Occupy Wall Street has been a complete success. This movement singlehandedly saved the Obama administration. It changed the discourse from the failed debt reduction by austerity path Republicans were cajoling the president into to a middle class centric discourse.
Absent anything else, this alone is a humongous success. That said, the movement has broken into many groups throughout the country more tailored to the realities of particular locals. Much of it goes uncovered by the mainstream media. There are groups that in their own ways are promoting the values that are promoted by Occupy Wall Street.
Coffee Party USA is a non-partisan organization with over 425,000 Facebook members and large mailing lists north of 100,000. In fact we kicked off our Enough Is Enough Campaign a few weeks after the Occupy Wall Street movement started. They leverage those contacts to collaborate with many other organization fighting for the middle class. There task are to connect communities, assist in the eradication of money in politics, support the tax reform, among other issues. See some Coffee Party USA events here.
Move To Amend is another collaborator with Occupy Wall Street. It as well has a very large list of members and affiliates throughout the entire country. The goal of Move To Amend is to continue building the grassroots movement to amend the constitution to eliminate corporate personhood and codify that money is not speech. See some Move To Amend events here.
Be Your Government is a movement that encourages average American citizens, the 99%, to become candidates that are independent of lobbyists and big corporate interests.
It is interesting that here in Kingwood we have had a weekly Occupy that is 39 consecutive weeks strong and continuing. We have had media out several times but the stories never made it on air locally. The reality is that this is repeated over and over and we believe the intent is that the Plutocracy frowns on giving coverage inasmuch as they had given coverage to silly Tea Party marginal events as if they really had a significant base or news value. You can see our continued Occupy Kingwood events here.
Make no mistake, many will continue to spin the death of the Occupy Wall Street Movement because its success means the demise of a growing Plutocracy.
