    Anti-Japan Protests in China

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     One of iReporter luoling8's family members sent this video of anti-Japan protests in Xiamen, southwest China. The protests are over a group of small islands in the East China Sea that both countries claim sovereignty over. "There has been a lot of talk about the island standoff and nature of protests in China, but not necessarily any proof of how organized - and largely peaceful - the demonstrations have been," she said. "In this particular case in Xiamen, [her family member] did not see spontaneous patriotic protests, but rather ones that had been planned and executed by the local government."

    In Xiamen, China
We were on a side street but were told that the parade was on the main road, and that the streets had been closed (so they knew in advance). Within 15 minutes as we walked along, we spotted a group of 6 young men sitting in front of a restaurant, smoking, still holding their sign. They were bored - no emotional fervor here! Note also the paraders carrying umbrellas. This was orchestrated, not a spontaneous event.
