    “Perfection”

So there was a 6ft something guy combing the halls of the high school. Nordic looking dude…….had that long hockey hair……..hockey eyes……and wide shoulders……super thin……..and legs that made the earth shake every time he took a step. Now was that a solid run on sentence or what:) There is more from where that sentence came from (my microbrain).

Early in his teenage year he had this crazy hand eye coordination as a baseball player. Not many remember his baseball years, but I do. Once again I remember information that holds no value to me getting ahead in life. Whatever….I love parking this crap and bringing it back up after I have ate too much.

Now let’s move onto the next sport that must have bored this athletic savant…..soccer. I believe his freshman year he took the team down state (I was 13 that year). However, that team back in the early 80’s was filled with depth……Raddon…..Prebish…….Crock………Frank……..Doc….Calabrese……Corfield……Caparos…..etc………let’s just say this team had talent. However, the young freshman dude took it all over the field like a player from Europe. He was fast…..never tired….strong…..great vision on the field……and put it away when he could. Actually, he was unreal! Too bad the soccer field was just a short chapter for this guy who could have played pro all over the world.

He had now finished his sophomore year and onto junior year……in 88 he made the Olympic team for something other than soccer. He was quiet about it…..never in school….all over the world……and keeping to himself. He would walk the hallways every so often with a pretty girl in hand……but he remained quiet……it was so clear his focus was to be world-class in everything he did. Even his swagger down the hallway was perfect and when he left school each day he did it with perfection (solid student by the way). His behavior all the way around was perfect for any kid or adult to follow.

Years later I was on a golf course with him and he hit a hole in 1. Once again he was showing his perfection. Years after that him and his wife were at my father’s funeral and they did not live in town. They came in a few minutes late…..but once again perfection at a perfect time. Nobody is perfect and he knows that……but why not just try to be?
