DOES THE GOP WANT TO RAISE TAXES?

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     dpkronmiller told me, 'Just a few years ago I fell into that 47% briefly during a period where I worked up to 3 to 4 jobs to keep a roof over my head - during that period especially I got to know a lot of people that I'm sure would fall into the 47% and they were anything but lazy nor were they victims - in fact I would say most of the people I have met in my life that you would describe as poor are not viewed within their community as victims but rather hard working heroes.'
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

My reaction to the baffling new tact by the GOP.

I have heard conservatives often talk about the 47% negatively and many Republican plans include changes that could effectively tax that 47%. I've heard a number of GOP supporters talk about how that 47% just isn't paying their fair share and that they are just overly dependent on government assistance. The inference is that the 47% are lazy and that they are not paying enough. This, to me, is a losing strategy and effectively puts the GOP in the odd position of being for increased taxation.

Now I recognize that there are argumens that are not as extreme and I don't think Romney's specific plan calls for a specific tax increase on the poor but many of his GOP peers have had plans that do and this video of Romney calls into question what his true opinion is on the poor in this country and what he would do with them.
