    Mitt Romney's 47%

For my Republican friends. Think very hard about what your Presidential candidate has said. His complaint is about Republicans more so than Democrats. It is a fact that 10 of the poorest states in the United States are Republican states. Now take into account that 8 of the 10 poorest states are part of that 47% of people who do not pay taxes. Out of that 47%, the majority are elderly, students, and disabled citizens of this country. The elderly paid taxes until they retired. They paid for their own social security. The students are just starting their adult lives, they will be paying taxes when they enter the workforce. The disabled do not want hand outs. We, as disabled citizens, want to live. I do not walk into a welfare office and ask for help. I struggle just as every other normal American. I could go on disability and social security, but I choose to be a contributing factor to our economy. I choose to get out of bed every day and work even when I do not have the strength to do so.

Mitt Romney chooses to attack our President regarding a comment made 14 years ago regarding distribution of wealth. How can you compare your comments about the 47%, but yet condemn a President for comments he made 14 years ago?

According to data from Tax Policy Center,in 2011 more than half of the filing units not paying income taxes are those with incomes less than $16,812 per year. Nearly a third - 29.2 percent - of those paying no income taxes are tax filers earning between $16,812 and $33,542, and 12.8 percent are those with incomes between $33,542 and $59,486. Simply put, the poor pay no taxes or small amounts of tax due to their salary. Smaller but significant numbers of the higher-income earners are also exempt: The same data shows that in 2011, 78,000 tax filers with incomes between $211,000 and $533,000 paid no income taxes; 24,000 households with incomes of $533,000 to $2.2 million paid no income taxes, and 3,000 tax filers with incomes above $2.2 million paid no income taxes.

If we want to clean up government, then we need to eliminate the Super PACs. These groups funnel millions of dollars to their own candidate. These Super PACs are not required to release their member's names, nor do they have a limit on what they can spend. These special interest groups basically lobby for their candidate. These groups use dirty tactics to get you to vote for their candidate. Truth in advertising doesn't apply to the elections. If we eliminate the Super PACs and require truth in advertising by both parties, this will prevent the double-speak that occurs in these ads.

The national debt is over $16 Trillion. The Republican party has been touting how President Obama is to blame and that he built this debt. The reality of this is very simple. Yes the national debt has risen since President Obama took office. It rose about $5 Trillion since 2009. So yes, the national debt has risen since he took office. And YES, he inherited a national debt of over $10 Trillion from President Bush. However, you have to take into account that many of those costs were due to President Bush's policies and tax cuts that continued with President Obama. So to say the President is responsible for the national debt is far-reaching at best.

If you eliminate the Bush tax cuts for the rich, then you will reduce our dependence on credit. The Republicans are just as much involved with our budget and national debt. The Republican party does not get a free ride because of it!
