Romney Comments Correct in Political Context

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     k3vsDad told me, 'I believe in context Romney is correct, however, spoken off-the-cuff, not meant for general consumption comes across as awkward, clumsy and ill-stated.'
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

After  listening to the nearly 50 minutes of a purloined video of Republican  presidential nominee Mitt Romney speak at a fundraiser in Florida in  May, I have come to the conclusion that Romney is correct in the gist of  the sentiments expressed.

While  being disabled, one would assume I am part of who Romney was referring  in his rambling response to various questions, but I did not hear it  that way.

What  I heard was campaign politics reality: there is a given percentage of  voters who have their minds made up and will not and cannot be won over  or convinced. This cuts for both Romney and President Barack Obama.  Therefore, it makes perfect sense "not to care" about those  "lost"voters, but to concentrate on that 10% or so of voters who are  still swayable and winnable.

Why  thrown money, time and effort on people who will never vote for you? Go  for the voters who will put you over the top and into the White House.

From  the Cornfield, all political campaigns play this game, but usually the  public never hears the reality. We, the public, prefer to not face the  truth.

Based  on my research the reality is that somewhere around 45% of voters have  made up their minds for the President and 45% are in Romney's corner.  Therefore, it is that 10% that both candidates must look to if they hope  to take in hand the keys to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue on November 6.
