Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) in Greece
Last night we attended the Thai Food festival sponsored by the Embassy of Thailand which was held at the Astir Palace, Westin Vouliagmeni. Diplomats from the different embassies in Greece, businessmen, officers of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other invited guests were present. We tasted various cuisine Thailand is famous for.
For me, the highlight of the evening was the demonstration of Muay Thai, or Thai Boxing. It is a combat sport that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. Thai boxing is also called the Art of Eight Limbs because it makes use of punch, kicks, elbows and knee strikes. This is in contrast to boxing which uses fists (two points), hands and feet (four points) like kickboxing.
