Did you line up for an iPhone 5?

    More from liereport

Apple Fans & Occupiers in NYC

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     liereport went to the Apple store on New York's Fifth Avenue at 5 a.m. to check out the line for the iPhone 5. He said he feels sympathies for both the iPhone fans (of which he is one) and the demonstrators.

'On one hand, I have to say I love the iPhone. Very stylish. Great device. I couldn't imagine myself camping out for one, but I can see why some would like to for fun,' he said. 'I do think people who have concerns about workers overseas have legitimate concerns too. I don't know what all the specifics are, but I think most of us want to see foreign workers who make our tech devices treated with dignity.'

'It was an interesting moment because while these groups are polarized in many ways, they're so similar. You have two groups willing to camp out for days on end. One passionate about a product, the other passionate about denouncing the need for such consumerism.'
    - dsashin, CNN iReport producer

Early Thursday, at the 5th Avenue Apple Store, shoppers and demonstrators are seen resting side by side in sleeping bags. Shoppers are camped outside for the highly anticipated iPhone 5, and demonstrators can be seen occupying spots in line to protest their concerns about the company's business practices.
