This iReport is part of an assignment:
The first to fall...
At noon on Autumnal Equinox Day (it's actually a national holiday here). The sakura (cherry blossoms) always mark the arrival of spring in Japan. Likewise, those same cherry trees, visible in the small park across the street, are the first to shed their leaves, just as they're scattered here in the bike parking shelter, just outside my apartment in the suburbs northeast of Tokyo. The weather has also taken a comfortable turn, with the oppressive humidity now giving way to pleasantly cooler days, allowing wide open windows and leaving the A/C off!
