This iReport is part of an assignment:
Travel photo of the day |
My back yard, my photo studio
- Jareen, CNN iReport producer
I'm stuck for a day. Give me a 35mm camera and three lenses and 20 rolls of Fuji film at different ISO speeds. I will never be bored.
Prime lenses I need are the 35mm 1.4, 50 1.4 and the 85mm 1.4 and I will turn out photos filled with perspection and color and things you could not dream of with cameras. Yes polarizers are required too. Then bring in a few models and we wil begin the real photo session.
Travel is not necessary for wonderful photos. I use my own back yard for over 1/3 of what I do professionally. Of course I have a light studio too. Have you ever tried the Canon 180mm macro or Zeiss 100mm Macro at F 2.8. There is just so much to learn about all these great lenses. So much to learn, so little time. And they all bend and make light and subjects beautiful with their exquisite properties.
It is an endless learning curve. I also teach those taking Master's degrees how to meter light and compose portraits using natural and fill light, but really: it's all just fun.
