Cherry @themovies review of End of Watch
I really enjoyed the new police drama - End of Watch. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Peña as two young Los Angeles Police Officers working in the South Central with Natalie Martinez and Anna Kendrick as their love interests. The film is written and directed by David Ayer.
End of Watch is a film that's like a glimpse into the lives of two men who are great friends and partners, who are ambitious and trying to do the right thing for their family and as officers of the law. Both men turn in a layered performance with humor, humility and flashes of horror of being police officers dealing with the reality of people who make bad choices and the consequences. It's not a traditional police movie since this isn't just about the shooting but instead is about relationships, morals, the drug war and how one decision can impact your life like dominos dropping on a table. I give this drama two thumbs up and recommend it.
