Peacework Medical in Haiti
Our medical team had been treating this 15 year old for a septic knee for two days with antibiotics when this photo was taken. She seemed to be improving. The infection had been worsening for months when our annual team arrived, but we were just too late for this systemic blood infection. The decision to try to get her transported four hours away to the regional hospital came with the sad news that she had died at home during the night.
