Election 2012: Your stories |
Why It's the 99% that Matters (not the 47% Romney spoke of!)
If everyone tries to figure out who is the 47%? and whether or not they belong to the category of the "disowned" by Romney, the real point will be missed.. The "47%" is an artificial construct; there are simply not 47% of the people in this country who meet his criteria of being Obama supporters, paying no taxes and being totally dependent on the government for self-support.
What's important is the 1% which Mitt Romney belongs to; his plutocratic style of leadership; his "disconnect" with the majority of american voters, and his lack of concern for the public welfare. I believe we need to understand the 99%/1% socioeconomic ratio in our country, which is so relevant to the upcoming Elections.
To elect leaders who represent an elitist ruling classi- one that Mitt Romney does - is to work against the common good. But until we take an honest look at the distribution of wealth in american society...how can we have an honest dialogue in our country about this and what our country needs? My conclusion, this is the very dialogue that Mitt and his entourage do not want you to have.
