    Chinese Lantern Festival-Dallas

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     historylover photographed lanterns from the Chinese Lantern Festival, which was held in Dallas, Texas, during the month of September. She says viewing the porcelain dragon lantern was one of the highlights of the festival.
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

Currently at this years State Fair of Texas, at the Leonhardt Lagoon, comes the Chinese Lantern Festival. Some of this exhibit was on display in Canada.

First video is some of the lanterns under construction, while others are finished and placed in the lagoon. There were 3 Lotus lanterns that had to be flown in by helicopter. Due to the streets, inside the fairgrounds, being made up of very old brick blocks. The 2 smaller lotus lanterns were placed at either end of the lagoon. And the large, animated lotus was placed in the center of the pond. There is one still photo of an employee in this video. He is on a well deserved break at lunch.

Second video is of the finished lagoon at night. 50% of the lanterns are animated. Including the 300ft. Porcelain dragon.

This lagoon never looked so good. And it will never look this way again.
