This iReport is part of an assignment:
    Are you living with depression?

    The silent battle

I cannot mark the day I knew. Perhaps it was the day I tried to take my life. Maybe it was before. Perhaps later. I really don't know. Nor is it important. I do know though what it feels like when you are completely broken. When there is no way out. When no one can help you. When you are alone.

Though I don't know when I knew, I know how I got here. An unfortunately all to familiar way. But how is got here is not what this is about. This is about what it feels like living with this silent and unrelenting darkness. It is about trying to impart to those who don't suffer what it is to live under this constant cloud of pain and sorrow. T live with a blackness and emptiness so vast one cannot see the other side.

But like those who have never been to war, how do you truly describe the horror one sees? And make no mistake, for those who suffer this is war. We battle everyday within and without. A constant battle against the emptiness, a battle to rise, to breathe, to live. Unfortunately many have lost this battle suffering in silence.
