Riverview Firefighters responded to this vacant house on the Coverdale Road just before midnight. When they arrived on scene the house had thick white smoke coming out. Codiac R.C.M.P. were needed to block off Coverdale Road, so the Firefighters could run hoses across the street. Ambulance NB responded to stand by in case of burns. N.B. Power arrived a short time later and cut the power to the old house. Firefighters fought the fire from inside for about a half hour, then the Deputy Chief noticed the floor was getting soft and ordered the Firefighters out of the burning structure , and they started to attack it from outside. Cutting holes in entrances and the roof, busting all the windows out of the house. Just after 1 A.M. more Firefighters were dispatched to the fire, and at that time Moncton Fire was on standby to cover Riverview if any other calls came in. The downstairs was fully engulfed in fire, making it difficult for Firefighters to fight.
