Paris: Coup de Tête (head-butt)
Since a few days, tourists and locals are intrigued by the unusual presence of a monumental statue installed on the forecourt of the Centre Georges Pompidou.
Variously appreciated and logically titled “Coup de Tête” (head-butt), the statue represents the altercation that took place between Zinedine Zidane and Marco Materazzi during the extra time of the football world cup final, in 2006 in Berlin, during which the French hit the Italian player.
Made of bronze and five meters high, the statue is the work of Algerian sculptor Adel Abdessemed.
