Heartwarming Scene of Christ The Redeemer

This is still one of my favorite travel photos. Not is it only a shot of one of the famous attractions in the world (Christ The Redeemer, Corcovado in Rio De Janeiro) but it's also one of the most serene views which inspires me both spiritually and mentally day to day. I have this shot on my wall at my home office :-)

This photo was taken from the top of Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio De Janeiro at sunset during a trip with my friend to South America in 2010.

We had avoided taking the cable car ride down that afternoon as there was a big group of noisy kids on a school trip about to go back down. And soon after they boarded, the cable car stopped halfway. My friend and I were joking that the cable car must have stopped because of the noisy kids, we could still hear their loud voices as their car went down the mountain. Of course now that it stopped, there was absolute silence LOL. Anyway, it took them about 10 minutes to get the cable car back on again. We decided to wait till after it has run normally for another round before we headed back down, in case there were still problems with it.

Blessing in disguise indeed as we were able to experience this heartwarming sunset with Corcovado Mountain and Christ The Redeemer in our view.

The second and third shots were taken a few minutes earlier.
