    Wedding Day in Mongolia

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     konacraig captured these beautiful images of different couples getting married in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on October 2. He described the atmosphere of the city square which was where many of the weddings took place as very happy. 'My favorite moment was to see the family members dressed in their traditional outfits and the generations of relatives attending the ceremonies,' he said.
    - Jamescia, CNN iReport producer

We continued our travels and flew into Mongolia on Oct 2, 2012. We were surprised to find out that today was one of the luckiest days of the year to get married. We grabbed our cameras and went down to the central square to watch car after car of newlyweds arrive and pose in front of one of the most important buildings in the city. The families of the bride and groom were decked out in their festive local outfits to pose for photos.

Ulaanbaatar is the capital of Mongolia and by far the largest city of Mongolia. An independent municipality, the city is not part of any province, and its population as of 2012 is over 1.2 million.

Located in north central Mongolia, the city lies at an elevation of about 1,310 metres (4,300 ft) in a valley on the Tuul River. It is the cultural, industrial, and financial heart of the country. It is the center of Mongolia's road network, and is connected by rail to both the Trans-Siberian Railway in Russia and the Chinese railway system.
