Tested for the breast cancer gene?

    Confronting Breast Cancer at 25

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     caraelyse614 is a carrier of the BRCA gene mutation and a breast cancer survivor. After graduating from college her father encouraged her to get tested to see if she was a carrier of the gene.

She tested positive and decided to take preventive measures to cut down on the risk of getting cancer. At 25, she went for a screening and learned that she had breast cancer. After hearing the news, she decided to blog about her journey to not only inspire women going through the same journey but also to answer questions for other facing the same road she is traveling.
    - Jamescia, CNN iReport producer

At age 25, I never expected to hear the words "You have breast cancer." Luckily, hearing those words also meant I had caught the disease early, thanks to already knowing I was positive for the BRCA 1 gene mutation.

    I blog at http://youngbrca1.wordpress.com/.
