$16 TRILLION in debt - why am I paying for Big Bird!?

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     dcgopgirl a conservative voter from Alexandria, Virginia, believes 'Mitt Romney's comments [Wednesday night] about cutting funding for PBS were completely justifiable.' His statement caused a firestorm online, with several spoof Twitter accounts like @FiredBigBird popping up throughout the debate.
    - katie, CNN iReport producer

After tonight's first presidential debate, Twitter exploded with the hash tag ‘#KillBigBird’ and tons of "I hate Romney" tweets followed because the presidential-hopeful once again repeated his support for the defunding of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) -- the home of Sesame Street.

No matter how darn important you think Sesame Street is, can this country really afford to parade little muppets around while it's $16 TRILLION in debt? I think some folks on Twitter need to re-examine their priorities!!
