    The Steve Jobs Effect

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     The first anniversary of former Apple CEO Steve Jobs' death prompted iReporter chopsm to send in a video he had taken (with an iPhone, of course!) of a celebratory crowd in London's flagship Apple store back in 2010. "It seemed so spontaneous, so I asked someone working there what was happening," he said. "He said one of their colleagues was leaving to work at another Apple store so they were saying goodbye. It just summed Apple - and Jobs - up perfectly - it was probably where a lot of these people had got their first jobs." Our iReporter, who works in IT, says he was a "huge admirer" of the late Apple chief, and found him inspirational in his own work. "I've always tried to demystify technology through being engaging and more inspirational, so instead of concentrating on the dry aspects of technology I say 'this is how you can change things,'" he says.

I captured this short video in the Apple store on Regent Street in London, England whilst visiting the store in February 2010. This crowd of Apple employees, clapping and cheering, was not for a VIP, not for someone senior in Apple or even for a product launch. No, this was for an everyday Apple colleague who was leaving the Regent Street store to work in a new Apple store opening elsewhere in London. When I witnessed this event it was at that moment I realised just how inspirational Steve Jobs was to his company and to the world of technology and me as a consumer and professional IT person.

Okay so this public show of emotion, support and team working may not be to everyones taste but it clearly defines the Steve Jobs effect. By this I mean Steve Jobs was a man who was a creative genius and an inspirational leader, he made his people feel that they're part of something great and that's why they willingly show this emotion in public as you can see in my video.

The video was shot with an iPhone (of course) taken in vertical mode to cover both floors of the Regent Street Apple store.
