The new American job: Part time?

you get up every morning and keep trying...

4 months ago my 37.5 hr job was cut down to 30 hrs. I am a minimum wage worker. my son works between 24 and 32 hours a week as a grocery clerk. neither of us is insured. my son is an insulin dependent type 1 diabetic who pays for his medical needs out of pocket...his dr helps out with insulin samples, we shop for glucose testing supplies on ebay. I am 58 yrs old and haven't seen a dr in almost 10 years. we manage to pay the rent, heat, food, electric, phone and internet bills. we walk to work, we shop the thrift stores, we get by. we don"t ask for such help like food stamps. we checked out section 8 housing, but the 4 year waiting list for a slum apartment just isn't worth it. we know that one illness, one accident, or one of us getting laid off will destroy us. but you get up every morning and keep trying to do better.
