Chestnuts Festival
Chestnuts Festival, in Hrvatska Kostajnica, is traditional event that gathers many people from all over Croatia into small place near Croatia – BiH border. It all starts with parade of medieval knights, armourers with firelocks and cheerleaders who gather in fortress Stari Grad (Old City) and perform. Along the city, you can find many stands that mostly offer chestnuts products, and places with food and drink.
Hrvatska Kostajnica is city located on the border between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the river Una. During the war in Croatia, Hrvatska Kostajnica suffered terrible damage, where old town was almost completely destroyed. All nine religious buildings were destroyed completely.
