I am a very rare dog! Actually, I am so rare that there are only 500 of us in the U.S. I love digging for truffles, and I am a very loyal companion. I am covered with dense curly hair that must be cut regularly to prevent matting.
I go back deep into Italian history and predate even the Romans; I love swimming and hunting water fowl. In the 19th century the marshlands in my native Romagna were drained, water fowling stopped and I nearly went extinct! The few remaining of my breed found favor amongst truffle hunters, and so here I am again!
