    Surging gas prices

    More from montebubbles

Coincidence that gas prices are below $5 per gallon

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     montebubbles told me, 'I am faced with the situation that my work requires an SUV. Regardless of the price of gas I still need to be there but am more selective in choosing what I do. Unfortunately I can not pass the price of the increased cost of gas on.' iReporters in California are sharing images of soaring gas prices across the state.
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

This past Thursday we noticed a $0.28 per gallon rise in gas across multiple stations and the rise still continues.

The pictures show the price of gas on the west side of Los Angeles from Los Angeles to Culver City to Marina Del Rey to Century City.

The most surprising part about the gas prices was that most of them hovered close to $4.99 per gallon as I typically see a much larger range in gas prices from these various gas stations that I often drive by. What was also surprising was that some of the gas stations that traditionally have been substantially higher than others still hovered around the same price point as if they were trying to avoid going above $5 per gallon.
