Affirmative Will Be Needed For The Foreseeable Future In America

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     EWillies1961 says when he was younger he hated affirmative action. 'It is a two-edged sword. Many people of all races think you got the job because of your race, yet if affirmative action is absent then recessive prejudices generally keep many minorities out of professional jobs and good colleges,' he said. He says minorities today still face discrimination when applying to schools and jobs. 'There is a definite belief in many people because of culture and other forces that lead them to believe that minorities are simply not up to par. They generally never look at socioeconomic reasoning and when that is made available, it is amazing how people respond by actually understanding the issue and changing their opinions,' he said.
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

I hated affirmative action when I just got out of college. After being in corporate America and listening to the said and un-said it is evident to me that there are two Americas and until culture and bias are changed from within the heart (the mind), then we need safeguards. We simply are not there yet.
