One Day on Earth, Once in a Lifetime
On a rainy Earth Day, the screening of a unique and beloved film debuted at the UN General Assembly to an audience of film participants and supporters. The culmination of entries around the world, depicting the one day of 10-10-10, bestowed a breathtaking sight. The flow of themes and human interactions evoked an intense pull at the heartstrings. It was a film unlike any, a true time capsule of life unfolding from our one and only planet.
Through the inspiration of universal language in music then eventually film media, the intrepid film makers have created a masterpiece of shared moments. The production of tying these video entries into a cohesive and relevant series of life cycles was a massive undertaking of numerous partnerships and interconnecting pieces. Director, Kyle Ruddick, and Producer, Brandon Litman have made this labor of love a perfect storm.
At a 10-11-12 screening at the Ford Foundation (in partnership with Philanthropy New York), the one day of October 10, 2010 once again captured hearts in New York City.. The production of 11-11-11 is in its final stages yet the planning for 12-12-12 is in question. This once in a lifetime trilogy will need additional support. As a non-profit foundation, One Day on Earth relies on much appreciated donations: http://www.onedayonearth.org/store.
The Oct 10 documentary fully captures its audience, which remains engaged. They relate and relive a day that marks the beauty of all other days. Lives in other countries are explored. Each story is a treasure. Participants in every country contributed entries, 60 non-profit organizations were involved and over 3,000 hours of video were reviewed. http://vimeo.com/37157765
Kyle and Brandon have endowed our lifetime with this gift. It is a record of our world today, a history for retelling. It is a precipice from which we can launch our world tomorrow.
