    Should affirmative action still exist?

    More from paulmartinDJ

Affirmative action is UNFAIR a BAD idea and COUNTERPRODUCTIVE

It was a BAD idea from the start because it encourages incompetents, quiters and losers, etc. to seek easy access rather than earn their way through life ! They ultimately become weaker and dependent on society to care for their needs at the expense of others who work hard and ask for NO special favors or treatment ! Reminiscent of birds fresh from the nest who stalk their mothers for food long after they are more than capable of self feeding !
Being from a poorer environment, a minority race, a different color or an underprivileged group shouldn't be used as an excuse to jump the line in education or employment. There have been MANY poor blacks, latinos and whites who came from the poorest neighborhoods and made it up the success ladder due to sheer perserverence and resolve ! The ONE thing I learned in the 25 years I lived in the US is that you are NOT gonna get opportunity handed to you on a silver plate...standing on the road with signs that read " WILL WORK FOR FOOD " ain't gonna get you ahead or waiting in parking lots for day labor pickups ! I was struggling with 2 small boys to make it through each day, feed , cloth and shelter them...and also look for ways to make a living...I went to Malibu and sold puppies I got for nothing to rich folks in cadillacs and other luxury cars who wound down their windows and handed me cheques for $30 and that was 1969...they didn't know me and it wasn't out of sympathy either...they just appreciated nice looking pups at a reasonable $ that's the beauty of America and that's what the game's all about ! Then we went to swapmeets (fleamarkets) and sold stuff...later bought and sold cars from our mobile home in SBDO.....we went to many places in the valley where peopel sold there own cars and copied what we learned ! That's how you get AHEAD in a vast country like America ! If you SEEK...eventually you will FIND ! I never met an American who hadn't seen and felt hard times somewhere along the line or who didn't try to help me along the way !
Life is tough enough for everyone other than the billionaires, multi millionaires and those inheriting wealth and thus leading carefree, pampered lives !  I am a single father who has raised two Sons and tried to keep my career going at the same time, it hasn't been easy and their are many times I didn't know where the next meals or rent was coming from, we even had to sleep in cars and rest areas at times because we had very little money...so yes I do know what hardship is all about !
But I never expected the government or anyone else to play santa and provide everything on a silver plate for me. If you want to get ahead in life you have to get out there and fight and struggle your way up the ladder, but you should never expect or demand others to act as crutches for you !
There a are millions of folk in America who are finding it very hard to survive in today's economic times.
many an indiividual with personal resolve has climbed out of the ghettos and poverty, worked hard to achieve a better life and succeeded through sheer determination, affirmative action to them was NEVER an option or consideration !
There are too many people in today's ME generation who want all they can get for nothing or without working for it like their parents had to and it is clearly very wrong ! It is everyone for themselves in this one shot at life we get...we never asked to be brought here, but now that we exist we should find our own way through the jungle and NOT expect or depend on other living creatures who have their own struggles and problems to carry our burdens and support us ! Those who do are alike social vultures !

Contrary to what too many losers and quitters suggest...America is still the land of opportunity, you can trip over and make $$$ there IF you REALLY wanna ! Those who are too picky and choosey should recognize that illiterate mexicans and many others from a variety of countries make a living in the US...BECAUSE THEY TRY...AND WANT TO WORK REAL BAD and for generations before them their relatives NEVER sought any affirmative anything ! Hard work and determinatioon to succeed at what you do best is the RIGHT way to go !

It's NOT America's fault that some folks are finding it tougher to survive and climb up from poverty and hard times ! OR that they may have married too early and had kids they coulodn't afford ! That there marriage isn't working or that their are domestic problems...they can't afford to keep up wiuth the neighbors...etc,etc,etc, I found it VERY hard at first when I set foot on American soil, the freeways, the rush of peopel eating as they ran to work...the hustle, bustle, crazy speed of living ! But I learn fast and was determined to be  successful and made it from obscurity in a small California town to top Chicago DJ in 7 months ! NOT just because of talent or experience but because America IS the land of opportunity and I went after that hungrily and with passionate fervor to succeed !
America was built by HARD WORKING people, that's how it should be and that's why to me affirmative action or any other form of freeloading is a BAD IDEA and a BAD role model for today's youth !
