Military budget cuts not given enough attention

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Romney supporter dcgopgirl told me in regards to her question on military spending, 'I think Ryan started out on the right path -- bringing up the fact that our U.S. Navy we be scaled back to pre-WWI size, but failed to connect what that particular fact meant in regards to increased military tensions around the globe. Biden on the other hand, mischaracterized our military leaders in by saying that our Joint Chiefs recommended the defense cuts.' She said her favorite moment was 'when Paul Ryan looked at the camera and told the middle class that the tax bill is coming to them because there simply aren't enough rich people and businesses to tax to pay for all of the Democrats' spending.'
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

Despite spending a fair amount of tonight's debate talking about foreign policy, I think both candidates failed to give military budget cuts that as part of the impending sequestration a large enough chunk of their talking time tonight.

Given the growing political and military tensions around the globe, it's now more important than ever to give our men and women in uniform the supplies necessary to succeed in keeping our country safe.

I hope to see President Obama and Governor Romney address this topic much more in-depth in the upcoming presidential debates.
