    Left Brain, Right Brain Degrees

I want to revolutionize higher education with the introduction of two new Degrees; a Math / Science Degree and a Reading / Verbal Skills Degree. These Degrees would be granted to those individuals who while being very strong in one area are uneducable in the other. I know people who think math and science are a walk in the park but who couldn't write an intelligible paper under any circumstances. I couldn't pass an Algebra course if you offered me a million Dollars but I can write.

We make those distinctions for Master’s and Doctoral Programs. Why not make them at the Undergraduate level? Why should large groups of the population be denied an education because their brains focus on one set of skills while excluding the other? It should be known that while a B.A. or a B.S. indicate a well rounded education with at least a basic understanding of both disciplines, a B.M.S. or a B.W.V. Degree indicates an individual has been educated exclusively in one discipline or the other. If I had been able to skip Math and Science courses while taking English, History, Psychology and a thousand other courses that do not require Math and Science, I would have multiple PhDs by now. Thousands of Verbally challenged Mathematicians and Scientists could now be making significant advances in our Nation if only they could have skipped English Comp and History courses.

Let those with ambidextrous brains continue in their current programs but let us stop the unreasonable prejudice against those with distinctly left or right sided brains. The current programs are denying an education to a significant percentage of the population and robbing our Nation of some very talented people.
