Sparrows (disappeared from Polish sky)
I live in Poland since 2010 (Silesia region). Since than, I've noticed that birds, sparrows in particular, disappeared from the urban, and even rural landscape. Few decades ago, they were common on nearly every square, farm field etc. Now sky is silent and empty. I have asked people, if they have any knowledge, what might have happened, but no one is able to give an explanation.
Eerie phenomenon, indeed, I would never anticipate to experience.
Please send any relevant information about the issue (apparently I have sent an enquiry to the Polish Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, but my request did not produce any response as of today).
I appreciate any comment or explanation you may have.
Please also raise awareness with regard to the ecological disaster and perhaps serious consequences (ecological, technological, etc.).
Sincerely,
Mark J. Wagner

P.S.
As far as I can tell, the population of pigeons is also decreasing.
